The popular social media platform, Snapchat, have added a unique program option to mark your big day, adding to their other existing categories such as birthdays and celebrations.

If you’re not familiar with Snapchat, it’s rapidly become one of the most popular international social media apps, allowing you to share a 10 second video or picture to your friend’s list. You can also create a “story” which enables you to share to your friends which will last and be able to be viewed for 24 hours then disappear. Existing filters are available on the app which vary and change as it’s updated (you should get notifications for this).  Apart from A-list celebrities, this is excitingly the first option for users to create and take part in a personalized option.

The idea comes from the cute, different way Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel proposed to his fiancé. He designed and used a custom made filter which shared the moment to his followers, creating a memorable and unique way to mark the special event. The custom on-demand filter will cost $5 following the approval of Snapchat on your submission.

To create your own personalized filter firstly visit geofilters.snapchat.com and follow Snapchat’s guidelines to design a filter. If you don’t fancy creating your own you can even use their existing wedding templates for free. Unlike other filters that you can choose instantly, the wedding geofilter will need to be planned and will need to request a time and date as to when your geofilter will appear. This will need to be done 30 days’ prior to the date you select for Snapchat to approve your creation.

Snapchat will require a square foot area geofence and will need to meet a minimum of 20,000. The cost of the filter will depend on the size and how long you would like the filter to be active on your account.
