WHO SAID ROMANCE WAS DEAD? RECORD PIZZA SALES AS LOVERS ORDER IN FOR VALENTINE’S DAY
Who said romance was dead? Domino’s, the pizza delivery expert, took record sales yesterday (February 14, 2012) as customers across the country ordered in pizza to show their loved ones just how much they care.
The company has reported sales for Valentine’s Day were up by 50% on last year as pizza lovers took advantage of Domino’s Two for Tuesday promotion and had a cosy night in.
Two regions were particularly passionate about pizza on the day – Wales and the West Midlands, which achieved 60% and 61% sales increases respectively.
Lance Batchelor, chief executive of Domino’s Pizza, said: “They do say that the way to man’s heart is through his stomach and it seems to have been the case for women yesterday too! We’re delighted to see so many people abandoning the hassle of cooking and washing up to order a pizza and enjoy a romantic night in. We’re very pleased Two for Tuesday helped spread a bit of extra love this Valentine’s Day.”
