Wedding party arrested minutes before ceremony
Acting on a tip off from the U.K Border Agency police swopped on a small church in Great Billing, Northants, arresting the bride, groom, best man and the witness. All 4 were arrested on suspicion of facilitating a sham marriage.
The pregnant Nigerian bride was taken away by police along with her Portuguese groom-to-be. They have since been released on bail along with the best man, however the witness is awaiting deportation. It is claimed that 3 members of the wedding party, excluding the groom, have entered the country illegally.
Even the vicar was in on the plot as police locked up the church, and hid the vicar, upon the group’s arrival. Having lured the party to the closed church, police officers surrounded the clan, seizing all 4 individuals.
The fate of the best man, bride and groom hangs in the balance as the authorities carry out further investigation to decide whether they’ll all face deportation charges.
