Mena Suvari and Simone Sestito exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony held in a church inside Vatican City
Just as the first snaps of American Beauty actress Mena Suvari wearing her impressive wedding ring, designed by her new husband emerge, so do the all important details of their big day in Rome.
The 31-year-old actress married her Italian partner of three-years in what was described as a “romantic” and very “traditional” ceremony held in an 8th century church in Vatican City.
Rome was chosen as the setting for the nuptials as the groom, 25-year-old concert producer Simone Sestito, is Italian and his family live around the city.
Mena was described as looking “breathtaking” by one of the wedding guests as she walked down the aisle in an Alice & Oliver designed gown and a pair of Nova diamond earrings. Music for the religious ceremony was provided by a string quartet, organist, and also a soprano singer.
The wedding reception was held at the stunning castle in nearby Bracciano, Castello Odescalchi, the same venue where Hollywood couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes tied the knot in 2006.
The newlyweds took to the floor for their first dance accompanied by music from the Gypsy Kings and the night was rounded off with a magnificent firework display.
The couple got engaged in 2008 after meeting the previous year at the Toronto Film Festival.

Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson have announced that they are engaged after the rugby star popped the question secretly 6 weeks ago as the couple celebrated Charlotte’s 24th birthday.
The Welsh rugby player pulled out all the stops to make the proposal special, surprising his partner of 5 years by whisking her away in a helicopter he’d borrowed from his Ospreys boss.

Wedding rings snatched in violent attack
Thousands of pounds worth of wedding rings stolen in St Albans
A man was smashed in the face by a thief who made away with a bag containing thousands of pounds worth of wedding rings.
The victim of the attack reportedly works for a jewellery company in the Hertfordshire area. The worker was said to have been returning to the company’s premises in St Albans when the attackers stole a bag containing approximately 450 gold and diamond weddings rings.
Police are looking into reports that the victim was followed by a T-reg Toyota Avensis last week prior to the raid. The victim is said to be badly shaken as result of the attack, but has not been seriously injured.
An appeal for witnesses has been launched by the police. They are searching for 4 men of Eastern European appearance in connection with the robbery. The main attacker is described as being 5ft 8 inches in height and aged between 30-35. The 3 other men are said to be aged between 25-30 years and all were dressed in jeans and jackets. One of the men was reported to have worn a distinctive red and yellow coloured bandana.
The public have been warned to be suspicious of anyone offering to sell cheap engagement and wedding rings as they could be part of the batch stolen during the attack. Anyone who is offered heavily discounted rings is urged to contact the police.

Russell Brand, the self confessed ladies man, seems to have been well and truly tamed by US pop singer Katy Perry as he’s decided to pack-in life as a womaniser after proposing to his girlfriend during a New Year’s break in India.
The 34-year-old comedian is said to have popped the question on New Year’s Eve during a carefully planned evening. The loved up Londoner went to great lengths to create the perfect romantic setting before asking Katy to marry him and she happily accepted. Their relationship was then blessed by a love guru during a spiritual ceremony.
The news was broken by tabloid newspaper The Sun, whom Russell had texted saying simply: “It’s true. Much love.” The newly engaged couple are now said to have gone on holiday to Thailand to celebrate.
The pair have been inseparable since first getting together last September. Both Russell and Katy have been flying between each of their homes in London and LA to fit in time together.
Rumours went into overdrive that an engagement could be on the cards after Russell was spotted in London’s Cartier store weeks before Christmas. It had been reported that he had picked up a square cut diamond set in a platinum band.
