Brides and grooms planning beach weddings in Florida cancel due to US oil spill

Couples call off beach weddings on Gulf Coast as a result of the US oil spill
Thousands of brides and grooms-to-be planning a beach wedding in Florida have been forced to cancel their arrangements due to the oil spill which is affecting much of the Gulf coastline.
The Panhandle area of Florida has been a popular choice for beach weddings in the States for many years. In fact, this part of the coastline has hosted so many beach nuptials that it’s been dubbed “the Las Vegas of beach weddings.”
However the US oil spill is having a detrimental effect on the wedding business on the Gulf Coast this year with some wedding industry suppliers reporting a 50% drop in the number of bookings for the peak wedding season.
Weddings are an important part of the local economy as they bring visitors and business to the Florida area. But with many brides and grooms fearing their dream beach wedding will be ruined by the oil which threatens to fall on the Florida beaches, many are calling off their seaside weddings.
Even when couples don’t cancel their Florida beach weddings, the planners are left with a headache. One wedding planner told recently of a bride who refused to give her wedding the green light until 48 hours before the big day so as to ensure oil from the spill had not been swept onto the beach by the sea.
The last-minute go ahead for these weddings is high risk as the planners have very little time to prepare the area ahead of the ceremony. For this reason, added luxuries like an arch of flowers looking over the ocean have to be scrapped due to time restrictions.
All stops are pulled out to ensure those who do proceed with their wedding on the Gulf Coast have a venue free of oil and tar balls as teams of workers are drafted in to clean the beach of any debris ahead of a ceremony.
Sweden’s Crown Princess marries her former personal trainer

Sweden's Crown Princess was married in a lavish ceremony in Stockholm on Saturday
The Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden married her former personal trainer on Saturday in a traditional ceremony held in Stockholm’s cathedral.
The Princess, who is next in line to the Swedish throne, met Daniel Westling 8-years ago when he became her fitness instructor. Their relationship was not well received initially due to Daniel’s un-royal status.
However some half a million people lined the streets of Stockholm on Saturday to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds as the royal cortege passed by. The Crown Princess addressed the crowds from the castle after the ceremony saying: “”I like to thank you, the Swedish People for having given me my prince.”
Some 1,000 guests were invited to the wedding and the lavish banquet that followed. Representing the British royal family was Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, and his wife Sophie, the Countess.
Princess Victoria’s sister, Princess Madeleine of Sweden wore a dazzling blue dress for the ceremony. It was one of her first public appearances since calling off her engagement with fiancé Jonas Bergstrom after it emerged he had been unfaithful.
The bride wore a dress designed by Par Engsheden. The simple ivory gown had a 5 meter train and featured an elegant shoulder skimming neckline.
The marriage took place in the same venue and on the same day as the Princess’s parents wedding who were in turn, celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
Katie Price agrees to televise her second wedding to Alex Reid

Katie Price and Alex Reid's marriage blessing to be made into a 3-part TV series
Katie Price has agreed to televise her second wedding to Alex Reid which is due to take place next month.
The newlyweds have signed a deal, said to be worth £600,000 to air the blessing on Katie’s reality TV show on ITV2. The marriage blessing celebration will form a three-part series which will show the lead up to the big day, the wedding itself, and the cameras will also follow the bride and groom on their honeymoon.
The former glamour model’s reality show is due to air over the summer months, weeks after her ex-husband Peter Andre’s rival show ends.
Katie got hitched to cage fighter Alex Reid at the beginning of the year in a private ceremony in Las Vegas. Although the film crew for Katie’s show were present in the run up to the quickie wedding ceremony, the couple refused to let the footage air of the moment when they actually tied the knot, much to the dismay of her TV fans.
The second wedding is being held in order for family and friends who weren’t at the original Las Vegas wedding to celebrate with Katie and Alex. TV viewers will also be able to share the special day thanks to the lucrative deal which will see the mini series Katie & Alex: For Better For Worse, hit TV screens this summer.
No stag do for Peter Andre after ex Katie Price imposed a ban

Peter Andre reveals he was banned from having a stag do before marrying Katie Price in 2005
After we brought you the news yesterday of Katie Price’s Botox hen do prior to her summer blessing with new husband Alex Reid, the glamour model’s ex-husband Peter Andre has revealed that he was banned from having a lad’s night send off before tying the knot.
Speaking in a recent magazine interview the 37-year-old singer, who has just re-launched his pop career, was asked about his stag do antics in light of his former wife’s hen do which took place over the weekend. However the father-of-two had no wild tales of stag do drunkenness to tell as he was banned from having a send-off from Katie.
Peter explained that his then, soon-to-be-bride had threatened to call off the whole wedding if he was photographed with another girl, even if it was just a fan, during a stag night. The Mysterious Girl singer had to choose between the stag and the wedding, so he chose the wedding.
Despite banning her then fiancé from having the traditional “one last night of freedom” the ex-page 3 girl went ahead and had her own hen do before her marriage to Peter. The pop singer added that Katie had had a “daytime thing” with some girlfriends adding, “So that was different, apparently.”
Will new husband Alex Reid face a similar ban ahead of the couple’s wedding celebration scheduled for next month? With only a matter of weeks until the blessing, if the cage fighter wants the traditional stag do, he’d better get on with it.
