A bride from Halifax was arrested in her wedding dress on what should have been the most romantic night of her life. However 37-year-old bride, Imogen Hope, spent her first night as a married woman alone, and in a police cell.

After returning home from her wedding reception with her new husband, Keith Hope, the newlywed started shouting abuse up to the bedroom of her neighbour, Samantha Pilling. The neighbour came downstairs to speak to the bride, who had reportedly downed lager and spirits at her reception, when a fight broke out, with Mrs Hope hitting 31-year-old Mrs Pilling, only stopping when her new husband pulled her off the female neighbour.

The police were called and the new Mrs Hope was taken into custody. Despite the offer of the arresting officers for the bride to change out of her now blood stained wedding dress, the mother of three opted to spend the night in the cells in her bridal gown.

The case came to court earlier this month where the newlywed denied assaulting her neighbour, although she admitted being too drunk to remember what happened. The court were told about a long running dispute between the two women as Mrs Hope believed that her neighbour, Mrs Pilling who is a practising pagan, had put a curse on her father-in-law who had recently been diagnosed with cancer.

Despite pleading guilty to assault, the brawling bride was found guilty of but was handed a conditional discharge and ordered to pay £75 to her victim, and £300 court costs.

A bride and groom will don wetsuits and exchange vows on a cliff top in North Devon before plunging into the sea below in what is expected to be a wedding unlike any other. Not only will the couple be taking the plunge come the big day on September 23rd, their guests, witnesses and even the rector will also leap from the cliff top after the duo are announced husband and wife.

Becky Watkinson and Samson Hutson are both experienced coasteering and water sports instructors and have travelled the world together, but have now settled down to life in North Devon, Ilfracombe. When it came to finding the perfect location for their wedding, the outdoor loving pair decided a rock 1km out into the sea off Hele bay was the perfect spot.

However guests will have to either swim out to the point, or take a boat and swim the last 20m to the rock in order to join the dare devil couple on their big day. The oldest member of the group will be the bride’s 80-year-old grandfather who is actually looking forward to the swim.

While the entire party will be in wetsuits, the bride will wear a white tutu while the male witnesses, who will double as bridesmaids, will each be given pink tutus so there’ll be no doubt as to who the important members of the bridal party are.

After a bracing swim back to the shore, there’ll be hot tea and pasties waiting for the wedding guests. The reception will be in-keeping with the theme of the day as the bride and groom will host a pirate theme celebration at their local yacht club.

A couple from Worcester opted for a cartoon theme for their wedding last week which saw Jessica Rabbit marry superman’s alter ego, Clarke Kent.

19-year-old bride Nyssa and her new husband 32-year-old Robert Taverner decided to have an unconventional style wedding to incorporate both of their tastes. The bride had her heart set on walking down the aisle in a red dress, while the groom is a self confessed “cartoon geek” and so between the two of them they came up with a wedding theme which suited them both.

Even the wedding guests got in to the act, arriving in a variety of cartoon character costumes including Betty Boop, the Incredible Hulk, Snow White and Tweety Pie.

The colourful nuptials drew plenty of attention with people hanging out of nearby windows at the local County Hall registry office to get a better look at the novel bridal party. The bride revealed that even the registrar was taken aback by the themed nuptials and the brightly coloured costumes.

After walking down the aisle to the Star Wars theme music, the couple jumped into their themed wedding car which was specially decorated to look like Benny the Cab from the movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

The couple organised their themed wedding in less than two months after getting engaged on Christmas Eve. Are you organising a themed wedding this year? If so, let us know what you’re planning in the comments box below.

For AFC Bournemouth supporters Dave Stone and Serena McClelland there was only ever one theme their wedding was going to have.

The football mad pair decided a year in advance that they wanted to celebrate their wedding on the same day that Bournemouth played their last home match of the season. The couple’s canny plan couldn’t have turned out better as the club has also been promoted so the newlyweds will have a double-celebration on their hands come the big day.

Groom Dave explained that they were worried about coordinating their wedding with such a day in case the club had been relegated as this could have put a downer on their special occasion. But as things have worked out, the couple are looking forward to an “amazing day.”

The pair will tie the knot at a registry office before heading down to Dean Court to watch Bournemouth take on Port Vale. The bride and groom will host their wedding reception at the stadium’s top floor restaurant along with their family and friends as they watch the match unfold.

For their honeymoon the new Mr and Mrs Stone are planning a trip to South Africa to watch England play in the World Cup. Where else would you expect them to go?

A couple from Leicestershire who celebrated renewing their vows with a cowboy and Indian themed reception got more than they bargained for when the police mistook one of the guests as a gunman.

Despite having warned the police several months in advance that they were planning a cowboy themed wedding, the police reacted to a tip-off from a member of the public who had seen one of the wedding guests walking down the street with a rifle, which was in fact plastic and part of the cowboy costume.

However a spokesperson for the police said they have to take any firearms reports very seriously.

As the couple left the church they were greeted by the sound of a police helicopter flying overhead. Thinking nothing of it they continued down the road to their reception venue. It was only then they realised the severity of the situation when they were faced with an armed police unit and sniffer dogs.

Friend of the couple, and landlady of the pub where the wedding reception was held, said it was obvious all 80 guests were in fancy dress adding, “You could tell it was a party and not a shoot-out.”

However the police warned that it is in fact an offence to carry a weapon in a public place, regardless of whether it is an imitation or not.

The couple had come up with the idea of a cowboy and Indian themed wedding reception as the groom is a big fan of Wild West films.
