The new Xtra Factor presenter Konnie Huq is reportedly engaged to Charlie Brooker
According to recent reports, Konnie Huq and Charlie Brooker are set to marry with the media dubbing their union as one of the oddest pairings in showbiz.
Konnie Huq’s image as a straight laced former Blue Peter presenter seems at odds with Charlie Brooker’s reputation for being an outspoken and often savage TV critic.
Love is said to have blossomed between the two after 34-year-old Konnie appeared on Brooker’s show Screenwipe. The two have been dating in secret for the last 9 months.
There’s speculation that the unlikely couple were hoping to have a quickie wedding this summer. The new lovebirds were said to have been planning a month long road trip round America and were considering stopping off in Las Vegas to get hitched.
However the trip has been postponed after the ex-Blue Peter presenter landed Holly Willoughby’s old job presenting the Xtra Factor. The ITV2 spin off show follows the contestants and the behind-the-scenes goings on from the X-Factor. With the audition stage kicking off in the coming weeks, the road trip and potential wedding had to be called off.
Securing the position on the Xtra Factor was a major coup for Konnie as she is said to have beat off competition from Christine Bleakley to land the job. Although there are reports she will earn £165,000 which may sound fantastic, but it’s £200,000 less than what This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby got for the gig.
There’s no news yet as to when the couple will make it down the aisle, but when it happens we will bring you all the details.

This is the most balanced article I’ve seen regarding Brooker’s engagement to Konnie Huq – you didn’t contrast Charlie’s looks nor his level of education against Konnie’s, unlike most of the tabloids who went for the offensively disrespectful angle.
