Katie Melua confirms engagement news

Another day, and yet another celebrity engagement is confirmed. It seems famous faces were busy popping questions over the festive period as it feels like a new couple are celebrating an engagement every day. Today is the turn of singer songwriter, Katie Melua, who confirmed that she is engaged to her sports star boyfriend, James Toseland.

27-year-old Katie first met James Toseland while on tour in April last year, confirming last July that she and the sportsman were an item.

The couple got engaged at the end of 2011, however the news has only just been confirmed by a spokesperson for Katie Melua. Katie and her fiancé made their first public appearance as an engaged couple in December when they walked the red carpet at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in Manchester, however the press failed to spot the sparkler on Katie’s wedding finger.

31-year-old James is probably getting some career tips from his wife-to-be as the motorcycle rider has been forced into early retirement from his sport because of a wrist injury and is said to be launching a career in music.

It seems the singer is not planning a long term engagement as she and her champion motorcycle racer fiancé are said to be planning their big day for later in the year, although the couple are yet to set the date officially.

The last 12 months are been especially difficult for the singer songwriter as she was forced to take five months off work in September after suffering a bout of depression. Luckily for Katie, she had the support of her partner and things appear to be looking up for the singer as she prepares for her wedding and also a new tour.
