Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson to wed at last
Gavin Henson popped the question to Charlotte on her 24th birthday
Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson have announced that they are engaged after the rugby star popped the question secretly 6 weeks ago as the couple celebrated Charlotte’s 24th birthday.
The Welsh rugby player pulled out all the stops to make the proposal special, surprising his partner of 5 years by whisking her away in a helicopter he’d borrowed from his Ospreys boss.
The Over the Rainbow Judge described in a magazine interview how she’d been feeling a little worse for wear after celebrating her birthday the night before when she heard the helicopter land in her garden.
After flying to a seafront hotel in Truro, Cornwall for a romantic lunch, Gavin took Charlotte for a walk before getting down on one knee and proposing to the Voice of an Angel star with a 2 carat heart shaped diamond ring.
The couple, who have two children together Ruby and Dexter, say they don’t plan to waste any time in tying the knot. The newly-engaged pair have hinted at a wedding on a secluded island, inviting just close family and friends, and having their daughter as flower girl, and their son as page boy.
