Australian groom-to-be attacks plane to stop bride fleeing the country

Man jailed for attacking a plane with a spear after being jilted by the woman onboard
An Australian groom was left broken hearted when his intended called off their wedding and attempted to flee in the country. However the jilted man decided to take matters into his own hands by forcing the plane to stay on the ground by attacking it with a spear.
The couple are from a small Aboriginal community living on Bickerton Island. After ending their relationship the bride-to-be, whose identity has been concealed, attempted to leave the island for the mainland leaving her ex behind.
It was then that 24-year-old Karlson Bara, having got wind of his former bride’s plan to escape, marched onto the airstrip at the tiny airport brandishing an 8ft long spear. The fisherman stood in front of the plant to begin with, warning the pilot not to take-off. He then released he was losing the battle, and so started attacking the plane with his weapon, harpooning it with the spear. The furious groom then threw a piece of wood at the aircraft causing damage to the fuselage.
A number of locals from the Aboriginal community arrived at the airport and managed to regain control over Mr Bara, he then left the airstrip.
Following a court hearing the jilted groom was handed a 10 month jail sentence for his actions. Bara pleaded guilty to the charge of being armed in public, and to causing criminal damage to the plane amounting to £4,000.
